Welcome

In the summer of 1993, a retired Verbist missionary, Father Frantisek Sirovic SVD, started saying masses in the English language at St. Ladislav’s Church in Bratislava, Slovakia. A decade and a half later, the community has changed – Redemptorists took over and alternated with Jesuits, only to be replaced by a diocese priest, who later made room for a Rogationist. Thus the church is no longer a Verbist church, and in 2008 it became the seat of the newly created archdiocese of Bratislava. We have a new organ, new faithful, and new children in the first communion class. But we remain the same community, still meeting at 11 o’clock every Sunday.

We are a mixture of nationalities, ethnicities, races, and sometimes even religions and denominations. And while in the pews you can see Slovaks sitting in the back, the Dutch in the right front next to the Germans and Asians to the left, we all sing the same songs and share the same communion.

Welcome, and have a look around!
