BEAUTIFUL REFLECTION FROM FATHER GORING IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CORONAVIRUS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua05MPYUWaE

Welcome!

We are an active, English-speaking Catholic Christian community in Bratislava, that comes together to deepen our faith. Our weekly English language programs are open to all who seek a closer relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Holy Mass

Mass is offered in English each Sunday at 11:00 at Sv. Ladislav Catholic Church. Masses in English on holy days of obligation are variously celebrated. Consult "News" on the right hand side of this web page for information regarding them.

Sv. Ladislav Church is located at Špitálska 7, Bratislava. Across from Tesco department store. Please consult the map below to see the precise location.

If you cannot attend the 11:00 English mass, attend mass in Slovak language at any number of churches in Bratislava city center. Here is a list of them (1st column) and their Sunday mass times (2nd column):

Just "google" the name of the church for its street address.

Parking Opportunity

Next door parking for attendees of the English mass is available. The parking place belongs to St. Elizabeth Hospital (Onkologický ústav sv. Alžbety), which is located between St. Ladislav Church (Kostol sv.Ladislava) and St. Elizabeth (Kostol Alžbetínok). When arriving, just tell the guard the secret password: "Svätá omša" ("Holy mass" :-), as he probably will not speak English.

Sacraments

For the sacrament of Penance (confession): available before or after Mass in the confession room located on the right hand side of the church vestibule. For other Sacraments: contact Fr. Ben Kosnac at: bkosnac@hotmail.com , or the parish office of St Martin's Cathedral, Kapitulská 9, during office hours Monday-Friday between 14:30 and 16:30. e-mail: dom@fara.sk; website: http://dom.fara.sk

Who we are: yesterday and today

It all started in 1993, when a retired Divine Word missionary, Father Frantisek Sirovic SVD, started saying masses at St. Ladislav Church in English. Thereafter, we have been blessed to have diocesan priests serving us, as well as those representing the Divine Word, Jesuit, Redemptorist and Rogationist religious orders.

We in the English speaking community come from all corners of the globe. We are a mix of ethnicities, nationalities and sometimes even denominations and religions. And while you can see Slovaks, Africans, Americans, Asians, British, Dutch, French, Germans, Italians, Spanish, etc. among us, we all sing the same songs and share the same communion. Some of us are permanent residents of Bratislava, others are just passing through and grace us with their presence.

Whatever your circumstances, you are most cordially welcome to join us. Please "click" on the above icons for more information on our weekly programs or contact us at: info (AT) catholic.sk

Looking forward to seeing you!

PRAYER FOR HELP DURING CORONAVIRUS CRISIS

Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages 'curing every disease and illness.’ At your command, the sick were made well. Come now to our aid, during this global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love.

Heal those who are sick with the virus and help them regain their health. Heal us from our fear, which prevents neighbors from working together.

Stay by our side in this time of uncertainty. Be with those who are sick or have died from the virus and their families. Defend them from illness and despair. May they know your peace.

Be with the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals who seek to heal those affected and who put themselves at risk. May they know your divine protection and peace.

Be with the leaders of countries. Give them the grace to act with concern for the people. Give them the wisdom to support solutions to the crisis. May they know your peace, as they work together to achieve it on earth.

Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure, mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace. Hear us and heal us.

Amen.
